Fall shots.

So I meant to take more pictures of Autumn-related things, but I ran out of time.
This is all I got;

A concise report on Man Ray

Well on this pennultimate day of the PALCS marking period I'm experienceing quite a nasty case of procrastination with existential enui-like symptoms. So I figured I may as well get this off of my pitiful to-do list.

=) Keep Calm and Carry on.

Emmanuel Radnitzky (better known as 'Man Ray') was an American artist born in Philadelphia,  who spent most of his life and career in Paris France. He worked in many fields of art, and with many different mediums, but he is perhaps most famous for his photographic work.
His work is associated extremely closely with the Surrealist and Dada movements.
Below is a photo of the man standing next to another surrealist (Salvador Dali). He is the shorter one on the right:

And here is an example of his photgraphic work; a 'photogram', like the one I haven't yet created :/

Images from the past month.

I can remember starting this blog with a plan to post very frequently.I clearly haven't been following that plan very well. It's one of my many goals this week to again focus on this goal.
=)
...
Of course now, I have quite a stack of photos that should have been uploaded the day they were taken, but now are weeks old.
I have here compiled some photos taken over the past month, that I believe to be on the higher end of mediocrity. All except one are photos taken in Cape May NJ. The sculpture is Social Consciousness, sculpted by Jacob Epstein. The people in these photos are younger siblings of mine.

So needless to say I need to get over B&W.
More posts soon (hopefully).

A Photo

I know this isn't really anything new or interesting. People seem to take photos of vinyl all the time, thinking just because it's retro that it's art. However, I do sort of like this photo, it was taken in very low light, hence the blurriness.

Joy Division- Unknown Pleasures.

Travel Photos

Here are my three favorite photos from my travels last summer:
This is a photo of me strolling through the historic streets of York, England
It was taken by my younger sister by mistake, but I think it may be one of the better photos that has ever been taken of me. It certainly conveys a sense of motion with it's blurriness, which is fitting, given the fact that I was on the move. the fact that it's from behind makes it so I don't feel self-conscious about it:
The next photo is also from York. It is a shot taken through a"snickleway" (a term used in York, meaning alleyway). I actually shot this photo:
And finally, here is another photo of myself that I actually like. I am perched in Badlands NP South Dakota. This picture was also not taken by me, but rather by a crew-leader. I was in South Dakota for a month last summer, working on trails at Wind Cave NP. The Bad Lands was a recreational trip:

My First Shot

Yesterday, I had the delight of buying a new digital camera. Needless to say I've been experimenting with it quite a bit over the last 24 hours.

It can be hard though, to find subjects for good pictures when you’re alone in your house on a hum-drum day, especially when you're still a beginner.

After a number of miserable failures, I managed to snap the photo below:

Its subject has been shot time and time again. Colored autumn leaves.

So this photo gets no award for creativity or originality, but I suppose it is decent shot....for me anyway.

Introduction

Hello. I am Matthew Pegan, currently a student at 'The Center For Performing And Fine Arts' (CPFA).
This blog was created specifically for my photography class, and so I'll be posting Photographs.
Photography, like art in general, is something I've always been very interested in, but do not have very much experience with. I will of course, do my absolute best this year, and I hope my inexperience will not be obvious.
I plan on posting photographs on this blog quite regularly. Hopefully, I will be able to look back on the whole blog in it's entirety next year and see a steady improvment in my work. Or at least see something I'm proud of in general.
Cheers-
